Chito Marilyn Manipis Perez

Marilyn was a dear sister to Alfredo "Edo" Perez (and his wife Emma), Rudy Perez (and his wife Doris), Rexy "Bebe" Pasay and the late Isagani "Ganie" Perez (and his wife Lilia "Libeth"). She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was born on December 31, 1948, in Manila, Philippines to her parents Jose P. Perez and Amparo Banzon Manipis.
She was a graduate of the University of the East, Manila, Philippines with a BSBA in Accounting. She used this knowledge to achieve the position of Vice President at the Bank of San Francisco and as a Banking Officer at Citibank, making many friends throughout her professional career. Of course, accounting was not the only knowledge that she acquired through her formal education as well as through all the many, many books that she read. As someone mentioned Thursday night "she was a walking resource manual", always willing to share what she had learned with those that needed her help.
Marilyn…Auntie Lyn….Sister Marilyn was how she was known to her family and her extended Church family and friends. (As her brother Rudy said at Thursday's service: "I never realized how many sisters Marilyn had!") She made many of these friends through her activities at Holy Angels Parish where she actively served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She has also donated her time to teach in the School of Religion and to become a member of the Fil-Am Club, where she had served as the First President. She was the Secretary of the Parish Council for several terms and was always there to volunteer to help with the many activities in the parish. Every organization in the parish could count on her presence and support. She had also been an active member of the Cursillo Movement, where she made many life-long friends.
Many thoughts were shared at the Thursday Service, one that touched many there was "she never gave up on a lost soul". That is true—she would always bring them "home" and "home" to Marilyn was the Church. Her evangelical spirit lead the RCIA program at Holy Angels for 25 years, many of those years single-handed. This spirit also inspired her work in the Legion of Mary on the parish level and beyond, of which she had been a member since she was 11 years old. Those who were fortunate enough to work beside her in these ministries found her tireless in her efforts to make sure that the journey for those she touched would bring them to a personal encounter and relationship with her beloved Mother Mary and her son, Jesus Christ.
Her faithful service to her Church, her extreme competence in her job, and her determined spirit will be remembered by those whose lives she touched through the friendship and love she shared with all of us.
