Joseph Jerry Dub
Born in Chicago, Illinois, March 8, 1926, died peacefully July 14, 2010 after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Joe, a World War II veteran in the US Navy, had a career in both the Navy and then at Lawrence Livermore Lab. Joe was an avid golfer and dancer, and leaves behind many fond memories.
Joe is preceded in death by Marie Dub and beloved grandson Steven Dub. Joe is survived by his children Marianne Dub, Catherine Mathisen (Peter), Charlie Dub (Ana), and Marie Fontana (Joseph); beloved grandpa of Tamara Hann, Chelsia and Joseph Fontana, Paul and Ted Mathisen, Madeline Dub, and great-granddaughter Mariah; uncle to Jacqueline Heckman; and brother-in-law to Barbara MacDonald and Virginia Shahrock, and many nieces and nephews; son of the late Gregory and Balbina Dub; brother to Andrew, Jean, Bernice, Irene and Helen.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mission Villa for their caring and attention, and to Hospice of the Valley.
Friends may visit Tuesday July 20th from 9-11am at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City. A graveside service will follow at 11:30am at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
Donations may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the Steven Dub Scholarship Fund at San Francisco State University.
