Donald Patch (AKA Papa) born to Chick and Irene Patch on July 25, 1946 in San Francisco left this life on
July 9, 2010 in Modesto, California. He adjusted to the nuances of the Central Valley, but never forgot his city roots. He was employed by PG&E for 38 years, retiring as Stanislaus Division Superintendent of Gas Service on August 1, 2001. Don was an avid and exceptional golfer from the age of 5 (yet never had a hole-in-one). He loved to ride around town in his 1932 Ford candy-apple red, roadster. Don married his loving and devoted wife, Rosie Patch, on August 11, 1984. He had two children from a previous marriage, Teresa and Michael (Denise Dallas) Patch, and was stepfather to David (Gina) Moguel and Riva Perez. He also had 5 grandchildren: Pinky, Joseph, Donevan, Carlo, and Viviana. Don leaves behind his brother Steve (Barbara) Patch, stepmother Gloria Patch, brother-in-law Bill (Norma) Perez, as well as many cousins, 2 nephews, and his "little girl" kitty cat, Gir. Visitation will be at Duggan's Serra Mortuary (www.Duggans-Serra.com), 500 Westlake Avenue in Daly City, California on Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 9:00 am to 12 Noon. Immediately following, a service presented by The Reverend Mr. George Baker, will be held in Don's honor. At its conclusion, please join family and friends in a "birthday" celebration of his life at the Daly City Community Service Center, 145 Lake Merced Blvd, (directions will be provided) Merced Room. (For those wishing to attend, interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Mission Road, Colma, on Monday, July 26 at 12 Noon.) During the celebration, family and friends will be encouraged to share a story or fond memory of Don. Any flowers sent to honor Don at his service will, at a later date, be donated to a Hospice facility. Don was a very special person who will not be easily forgotten, he left a smile or laughter wherever he went. Please come to say Happy Birthday to Don, he'll put the "fun" in funeral. No gifts please.
