Maria Theresa Kummerling, (Theresa) passed away peacefully at 100 years of age in San Carlos on June 23, 2010. She is predeceased by loving husband, Max Kummerling, and by her beloved siblings, Jacob Haller, Mathilde Bartel, Anna David, Klara Birker, and Alfred Haller. Theresa is survived by the following nieces and nephews and their families, Eleonore Schwab, Rosemarie Caramagno, Trudy Bartel, Herta Tschersich, Norma Parson, the late Martha Renn, Alfred Birker, Adolf Birker and Willi Birker. Great nieces and great nephews and other family members here and in Bavaria, Germany are also mourning her death. Theresa was born in Eisenbolz germany on October 29th, 1909 to Leo and Katharina Haller. She immigrated to San Francisco as a young woman. Theresa and Max settled in the Richmond district, where they spent many precious hours exploring Golden Gate Park with their lovely dachshunds. Theresa was an avid reader and writer, and some of her literary pieces were published in German magazines. She was a talented gardener and her roses were her pride and joy. Music also filled Theresa’s home and heart. Theresa became a resident of San Carlos Elms in 2009, and was fortunate to celebrate the joyous occasion of her 100th birthday there. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 29th at 1:00 pm at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City.
